Religious Education
The mission of the Holy Name of Jesus Religious Education Program is to teach our children the Catholic faith and to bring the love of Jesus Christ into their hearts. While it is our belief that parents are the primary educators of their children, we are honored to assist in this important mission of leading them into a loving relationship with God.
Our Religious Education program consists of Wednesday evening classes for children in kindergarten through 10th grade. Classes are held in the Holy Name school building from 6:15-7:30. Throughout the year, children will have the opportunity to participate in various prayer experiences in addition to their regular classwork.
Our Mission
The mission of Holy Name of Jesus Religious Education is to support parents in their role as the primary catechists of their children; teaching and forming their child in their knowledge of our Roman Catholic Faith and participation in the Church’s sacramental life.
It is our goal to raise up a new generation of disciples for Jesus Christ. We believe this can best be achieved by both educating our children and leading them into a loving relationship with God!

Sacramental Preparation:
Reconciliation & First Communion
The Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are typically celebrated in second grade. Children will receive materials to prepare for these sacraments at home in addition to their regular Wednesday evening classes or religion classes in a Catholic school.
Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation by which the confirmed receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit bringing them into a deeper communion with the church. Confirmation deepens our baptismal grace and unites us more firmly to Christ.
The decision to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is an important one and is celebrated in the tenth grade. To receive the sacrament, students must have completed the previous year’s religious education class.
