Catholic Charities – Good Shepherd Shelter

Catholic Charities in Wausau runs the Good Shepherd Shelter, providing a warm meal and overnight accommodations to the unhoused population in Wausau. The Good Shepherd Shelter is located in the Community Partners Campus on Grand Ave. The shelter needs volunteers to provide food and staffing to help serve the meals, as well as simple intake duties. The shift is 3 hours long, from 6:00-9:00 pm. Holy Name Parish has a group of volunteers currently helping with the food, kitchen, and intake. We currently help approximately 2 times a month. Many hands make light work. If you would like to join in on the fun, please contact Elaine Schneider. Her email is elainecathryn@gmail.com. Knights of Columbus Council 1069

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal and service organization. George Schreier Council 1069 is the Wausau council supporting the 5 Wausau area Catholic churches, however any Catholic man who would like to become a member regardless of parish is welcome to join. The KC’s have a monthly meeting, usually held on the 1st Monday of the month. Social events: dinners (that support our local clergy and special needs) picnics and other council events are held monthly. Our council supports many charities private and public, local and nationwide. Fundraisers range from Tootsie Roll drive, 50/50 raffles, Brat frys, and good will donations to name a few. Prayer Chain Ministry

“Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.” Phil 4:6

When people need help, the Holy Name of Jesus Prayer Chain Ministry is here for them. The Prayer Chain Ministry is a network that communicates and takes prayerful action on the needs of parishioners, friends, and the community. Prayer requests are called into the parish office and passed on to the group. If you have a prayer request or would like to become a “prayer warrior”, please contact the Parish Center at 715-842-4543.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

The St. Vincent de Paul Cabrini Conference is a lay organization that leads men and women to join together to grow spiritually by serving the poor and suffering in Marathon County. Through home visits, we provide assistance for rent, utility bills, transportation, food, clothing, household goods,
medical expenses, and more. Most importantly, we provide emotional and spiritual support, along with hope, in difficult times. There are many ways to get involved with SVdP.
